Hi, I’m Alissa Herman…
Founder of Golden
Triangle Agribusiness

I’ve spent the 19+ years helping farming families
grow what matters most to them – whether that’s managing cash flows whilst increasing herd numbers, financing an expanding business, organising succession planning, or securing new property to support the next generation of farmers.

Having spent two decades of my career in senior positions within the ‘Big 4’ banks, I’ve seen first-hand the challenges that face rural business owners seeking agribusiness support. Now, having transitioned to agribusiness finance and brokering, I have the unique perspective of seeing both sides
of the coin.

As the only female agribusiness finance and mortgage broker in central Queensland, I want to provide the support, service, and advice you’ve been lacking from big banks and traditional brokers. Beyond connecting you with the right lender, I want to help you move forward in a strong financial position and with confidence.

The journey to Golden Triangle Agribusiness started two decades ago – but has its roots stretching back a lifetime. I grew up on the land in the ‘Golden Triangle’ region of North-West NSW. My family still farms the land. And, just like you, I’m the treasurer of my own household’s family budget and finances. I understand the stress and frustration that comes from wanting to expand your business but dealing with traditional lenders and banks who don’t understand your situation.

From working with growth-on-the-horizon couples looking to expand, future-focused families planning for succession, and farming homecomers ready to put down roots in farm country, I know what it takes to advocate for your business and support your best interests.

But, before we start writing the next chapter in your
story, let me share more of mine with you…

1993

A country girl myself, I’ve always felt a pull to work in the farming industry, but due to our remote location from schooling, we were sent to boarding school at age 11. Like many children of farming parents, this gave me a chance to expand my education with the goal of coming back and helping my family build something permanent and profitable
in the bush.

Growing my family’s farming business was always at the heart of what I wanted to do.
I thought that meant continuing my family’s legacy in the bush, but when that wasn’t a financial reality, I had to find a new path.

Seeing that my best option to remain
in agriculture was to study agribusiness,
I graduated with a Bachelor of Agribusiness from Gatton University.

I already knew that our nation’s primary producers were a different breed of people – now, my education taught me that these growers and producers needed a different form of support to ensure they stayed profitable and sustainable. That’s where
I was going to help.

I was ready to start helping farming families and secured my first job working with Westpac in North QLD (from Cloncurry to Townsville). Focusing on large-scale cattle operations, I built a fundamental understanding of how finance worked in regional Queensland – as well as the true vastness of the outback.

Seeing the care and compassion graziers had for their families, land, and animals was a reminder of why I got into this industry, but another reminder that financial options were not tailored to rural clients.

Moving up in the world, I took a senior management position with NAB in Central Queensland. Now working with a diverse range of industries including beef cattle grazing, dryland cropping, table grapes and irrigated farming, I was able to build on my experience and understand the importance of connecting people and processes to get people moving towards their goals.

It became clear to me that more support was needed for those supporting the country.

2018

Looking for more ways to add value to my clients, I made the decision to return to studying, completing a Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking. With 15 years of experience behind me, I was still keen to remain in finance but wanted to find ways to deliver deeper, more meaningful value than
I could in my previous role as a banker.

Having seen the struggles farming families had in balancing cash flow management, human resource needs, negotiating with lenders and the day-to-day running of
a business, I wanted to provide
a tailored solution.

This was a turning point. I left my role as a bank manager to tackle the fast-paced and hands-on world of finance brokering. Making the jump to a mid-tier accounting firm specialising in rural accounting and
business advisory, I was juggling the role of motherhood (with three young children) and the need to provide flexible financing options for families who reminded me of my own.

After three years in the role, I realised there was a way to combine my experience in finance, my background in farming, and my role as the family treasurer…

2022

Golden Triangle Agribusiness was born. Coming from a self-employed farming family, I knew I wanted to design and create a life
on my terms without limitations on my business goals and future. Having spent
my career working with rural families and business owners, I’d seen the lack of support available – whether that was a lack of support from banks and existing advisors, or uncertainty around finances.

Golden Triangle Agribusiness was
launched to provide a wide range of lending options, but also the tools and confidence farming families need to grow and create
sustainable businesses for future generations.

I took the next exciting step in my business. Will this be the year you take the next
step in yours?

All My Experiences Have Led Me Here: To Support Farming Families Like Yours

The size of the outback means your property may be isolated, but your financial options shouldn’t be. Building a legacy on the land means daily challenges for you and your family to overcome. Those challenges shouldn’t extend to your choice of financing, your exposure to risk, or the cost of your interest rates.

I’ve been where you are right now, and stood on the side of your bank manager too. As a financial broker specialising in agribusiness and commercial finance,
I have a deep insight into where you are and where you want to be.

You’ve got a plan for your children, your family and your future. If you’re ready to move forward and receive the support you need to grow, my team and I are ready to help.

More Than Anything, We’re Putting
Fairness Back in the Equation of Finance
